Earth
- This article details the planet. For the element, see Earth (element).
Earth (地球 Chikyū, Nodaimese: Terra, Namari: もとな Motona, Trulauian: Pirtu) is a planet in Innocence Seekers and Yume ni Aruku. It is one of the four "main" planets of the galaxy, and, as the original homeworld of humanity, possesses great significance.
Geography
There are traditionally considered to be seven continents on Earth: Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Asia, Australia and Europe. However, the configurations of the land masses means that there are only four continent-sized landmasses, with only Antarctica and Australia remaining separate from each other and all other "continents". The two Americas are joined, and Africa is joined to the Eurasian land mass, which, while considered two continents, is technically only one continent.
Countries on Earth
The following is an incomplete list of countries with significant impact in Innocence Seekers and Yume ni Aruku:

These countries are either settings for important events within the stories, birthplaces or homes of characters, or countries whose government and/or military play an important role in the story.
Innocence Seekers
In Innocence Seekers, Earth is where the Zodiac Warriors and Puella, the two main mage organisations in the galaxy, originated (the Zodiac Warriors was founded in AD 621 in India, while Puella first appeared in around the 3rd century BC in southern Europe).
In Innocence Seekers: The Black Rose, despite the fact that Earth was where humans originated, it has largely fallen behind other planets in terms of culture and technology. It is speculated by many characters to be because the people of Earth are either ignorant of magic, which most galactic technology is based on, or fearful of it to the point of persecution. Lily notes that the dominant religions on Earth often teach that magic is inherently bad, and suggests it as a possible reason why so few countries even use magical technology. She also notes that while it is possible to use ordinary non-magical weapons to drive away demons and witches (despite their extreme power), at one point the military of Earth's nations will be overwhelmed and the people will be forced to resort to magic.
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD
The reluctance of the people of Earth to use magical technology eventually leads to disaster. Until the events of Innocence Seekers: Akari of the Light, Earth has largely been a spectator to the incidents affecting the galaxy, although the nations have sent forces to assist the nations of other planets in the past. However, late in the story, Gakran sent his witches to nearly every planet where humans live, including Earth. While the other planets were able to mitigate the damage somewhat due to swift activation of magical barriers and a ready force of mages protecting each city, tens of millions of people on Earth are killed in only the first day of the invasion. The only places with adequate protection, apart from cities where magical girls were already in, were cities in Japan and South Korea, and a few cities in China (in particular, the capital, Beijing, and Shanghai).
